Safety

Cape Verde is considered a safe country to travel and is one of the three most stable countries in Africa.

Political and social security is of great importance. Also, there are no religious conflicts in Cape Verde.

The Cape Verdians are known for their willingness to help.

Soul Tours is constantly informing you about the safety of our tours and resorts and offers you safe activities.

BUT – Caution is better than forbearance!

We therefore advise you to follow the general travel precautions:

  • Lonely beaches are great – you should bathe there however only after you have informed about eventual dangerous currents.
  • Do not leave your belongings out of your sight on the beach.
  • You should pay attention to your valuables and refrain from wearing eye-catching jewelry.
  • While traveling, leave larger amounts of money, passports and flight tickets in the hotel safe (not in the hotel room). Only carry copies of passport and travel documents.
  • Increased caution is advisable in Santa Maria (Sal), on beachwalks on Boa Vista and in the large cities of Praia and Mindelo, especially at night. It is advisable to always take a taxi, even for short distances.
  • Inform yourself (eg in your accommodation) about possible dangerous routes or excursion destinations.
  • Visit solitary places on Boa Vista and Sal, in Praia and Mindelo only with a Cape Verdean escort.
  • After a night-time disco or restaurant visit, take a taxi for short distances.
  • Do not try to resist in a possible attack. This prevents physical damage.
  • Any theft or robbery should be reported to the police.
